I'm running because, like many of my neighbors, I'm frustrated with the lack of transparency and community engagement from my city representative. It's time that someone takes their role as a public servant seriously and rises to the challenge of rebuilding public trust.
Connecting with local schools, organizations, non-profits, and more to put emphasis on the importance of civic education across El Paso. Voter apathy is prevalent and it's time to put in the work to turn El Pasoans out to vote.
With an increase in DWI/DUIs and the work of the local taskforce between the Sheriff, DPS, and local PDs across the county, it's time for every city representative to be hands on with the public safety campaign, which at present, is lacking.
El Paso is the sixth largest city in Texas but one of, if not the, highest in debt obligations to the state because of its overuse of certificates of obligation. This non-voter approved debt is what continues to add to the budget crunch the city faces every year and puts the burden on taxpayers for multi-million dollar projects that were never voted on by El Paso. That trend needs to end.
